Sagome new school library completed
In the town of Wolkite, on the edge of Ethiopia’s Gurage Highlands about two hours by car from the capital city of Addis Ababa, the Sagome Learning Center and its 700 students now have a new library.
Thanks to many individual donors, a fund-raising event and a matching grant from the Nicol Family Foundation, $15,000 in capital funding was raised in 2016 and library construction was completed in 2017.
The cement, concrete and steel construction means the library building will served the school community well for many years. The school community has helped to find furnishing and many books have been provided by donors in Canada and Ethiopia to help stock the shelves.
The Sagome school community, students and families send their thanks and appreciation to the donors who have helped to make this project a success. With their help, the children of Wolkite, Ethiopia, are building a better future for themselves, their families and their nation.
