Vision & Hope

Vision: For disadvantaged and at-risk children to grow up in a safe, loving home, with the care, stability, and opportunities every child deserves.

Hopes of the project are that each child:

● Feels safe and valued in a nurturing home setting.

● Has access to education and guidance that opens doors for future opportunity.

● Is empowered to pursue their goals with confidence and support.

To do this, we enact the values of:

● Compassion: Working with empathy and understanding, supporting each child's unique needs and fostering an environment where they feel valued, safe, and heard.

● Encouragement: Inspiring children and caregivers by creating an atmosphere of support and motivation, celebrating progress and helping individuals build confidence to overcome challenges and thrive.

● Integrity: Upholding the highest ethical standards, ensuring transparency, honesty, and accountability with caregivers, children, and supporters.

● Empowerment: Providing children with the resources, education, and emotional support they need to grow into resilient, self-sufficient individuals who shape their own futures.

● Community: Fostering a strong, inclusive community where caregivers and children work together to create a supportive network, strengthening relationships and a sense of belonging.

● Safety: Prioritizing the physical and emotional safety of every child, and maintain a secure environment where children can grow, heal, and thrive without fear or harm.

● Sustainability Committed to sustainable practices, ensuring long-term support for the children, caregivers, and the project, while creating lasting impact for future generations.

Aligned with Devxchange’s mission of “Helping People Help People,” this initiative creates life-changing outcomes by working with local leaders who understand the cultural context and the children’s needs firsthand.

Project History

The Bandipur Children’s Home (BBG) has provided a safe and nurturing environment for up to 15 orphaned children in Nepal for the past 15 years.

In 2008, Canadian and Nepalese co-founders connected through a desire to serve abandoned children and youth. Together, they built a children’s home in the quaint heritage town of Bandipur. The Nepali co-founders are the ‘parents’ and leaders of the home and operationalize the project using family-oriented care to provide children with stability, education, and a fresh start in life. The Canadian co-founders live in Western Canada and lead a project community called the “Nepal Children’s Foundation”. This community collaborates with the Nepali leads through fundraising and encouragement.

The BBG model is recognized in the Tanahun district as the “gold standard” as many others seek to apply the well-respected practices in similar homes nearby. Children who have transitioned to young adulthood remain connected with the home while leading flourishing lives in their communities.
