Devxchange 101

A Project Volunteer is someone who joins the Devxchange volunteer team to support project monitoring, communication, fundraising, and administrative activities connected to Devxchange programs.

Anyone whose values align with the mission and work of Devxchange International and who is interested in supporting the organization through project monitoring, fundraising, communication, and administrative activities may apply to become a Project Volunteer.

Once you become a registered Project Volunteer with Devxchange, you may have opportunities to:

  • Join volunteer administrative and support teams
  • Assist with project monitoring, fundraising, and communications
  • Support specific Devxchange programs and initiatives
  • Help strengthen communication and collaboration with local community organizations overseas

Devxchange International supports programs in communities around the world, with a focus on areas experiencing significant humanitarian and poverty-related challenges where adequate oversight and communication systems are in place. Since our inception, we have supported initiatives in more than 30 countries.

Yes, eligible donations to Devxchange International qualify for an official charitable tax receipt in accordance with CRA guidelines. Tax receipts are typically issued at the end of the calendar year.

A grantee is a local organization or community-based group that helps carry out charitable activities supported by Devxchange International. Devxchange works closely with grantees to support program implementation, communication, monitoring, and accountability.

Our name, “Devxchange,” stands for “Development Exchange.” We believe development is a two-way exchange of learning, collaboration, and shared knowledge between Canadians and communities around the world.

Devxchange International is not a volunteer placement organization. However, approved volunteer opportunities may exist as part of Devxchange’s program monitoring, communication, and support activities. In some cases, volunteers may participate in overseas visits connected to Devxchange programs and charitable activities.

Approved volunteer travel connected to Devxchange programs may be supported through fundraising and donor support initiatives operated by Devxchange International.

No. Devxchange International is not a funding agency and does not provide direct grants upon request. We support charitable programs and initiatives that align with our mission, charitable purposes, and organizational capacity.

Funding for Devxchange programs comes from donations, fundraising initiatives, grants, and community support.

How do I...?

Devxchange International supports a variety of charitable programs and initiatives aligned with our mission and charitable purposes. Donors may express a preference to support a particular program or area of work, and all donations are reviewed and allocated by Devxchange International in accordance with CRA guidelines and organizational priorities.

There are several ways to support Devxchange International through recurring giving.

Online Monthly Donations
Visit one of our program pages and select the recurring monthly donation option. You may choose an amount that works for you, and your donation will be processed automatically each month.

Pre-Authorized Bank Donations
You may also set up monthly donations directly from your bank account by downloading and completing our pre-authorized donation form. Please mail the completed form along with a void cheque to:

Managing Your Monthly Donation
You can securely update your monthly giving information using our Donor Form, including:

  • Updating credit card information
  • Adding a new credit card to your monthly giving profile
  • Changing your monthly donation amount
  • Updating your address or contact information
  • Cancelling monthly payments

If you would like your donation to support a particular program or area of work, please include your preference in the memo line or with an accompanying note. Donations are reviewed and allocated by Devxchange International in accordance with CRA guidelines and organizational priorities.

If you wish to support a particular Devxchange program or area of work, please include your preference with your donation. All donations are reviewed and allocated in accordance with applicable charitable guidelines and organizational priorities.

Eligible donations to Devxchange International qualify for an official charitable tax receipt in accordance with CRA guidelines. In some cases, where goods, services, event admissions, or other benefits are received, only a portion of the donation may qualify for receipting.

Annual tax receipts are typically issued by mail or email at the end of the calendar year and may combine multiple donations made throughout the year.
