Donation Goal of $2500
Little Bay Missions located in Jamaica endeavors to uplift the local community through multifaceted support initiatives. Our project is dedicated to addressing immediate needs by providing essential sustenance such as food and necessities to those in need. Additionally, we aim to foster long-term empowerment through skill development programs, equipping individuals with the tools and knowledge to improve their livelihoods and become self-sufficient. Through these efforts, we aspire to create a sustainable impact that not only meets immediate needs but also cultivates a resilient and thriving community, grounded in Christian values of compassion and service.
One of the programs we are working on is supporting the children who attend Little Bay school with meals.
There are 166 children, this will cost approximately $3000.00 CAD to support the children for the year with food.
The school is located across the road from our Mission Centre!
About This Project
Little Bay Missions is a community-driven initiative based in Little Bay, Jamaica, dedicated to providing essential services and fostering economic empowerment through sustainable projects. Central to our mission is the operation of a soup kitchen that serves nutritious meals to four different communities on a weekly basis. In addition to addressing immediate food needs, our project aims to create employment opportunities and build valuable skills within the local community.
The mission is to extend a helping hand to those in need, fostering holistic well-being through a combination of essential services, educational opportunities, and a foundation of faith. His work is rooted in a holistic approach that addresses immediate needs while also empowering individuals for long-term sustainability. The idea for this project originated from a profound sense of connection to the community, and the value of “nobody left behind”.
The impact of our project extends beyond providing immediate relief to addressing systemic issues of poverty and food insecurity in Little Bay and surrounding communities. By integrating soup kitchen services with employment and skill-building initiatives, we create a holistic approach to community development. Our goal is to build a resilient community where individuals have access to nutritious food, economic opportunities, and the tools necessary to thrive.
Little Bay Missions is dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of community members through compassionate service and sustainable development. Through our soup kitchen services and employment programs, we strive to empower individuals, strengthen community bonds, and create a pathway to a brighter future for all residents of Little Bay, Jamaica.
Project Goal
The goals of Little Bay Missions are centered around providing sustainable support and empowerment to the community of Little Bay, Jamaica, and beyond. Our goal for this year is two-fold:
1. Weekly Soup Distribution: To provide nutritious meals to four different communities on a consistent basis. This initiative aims to address food insecurity and promote healthy living among vulnerable populations.
2. Employment and Skill Building Opportunities: To create employment opportunities within the local community through the operation of the soup kitchen. We strive to empower community members by offering training in culinary skills, food preparation, and management. This not only supports individuals financially but also equips them with valuable skills for future employment and personal development.
We believe in the transformative power of community support and aim to create a positive impact that extends beyond immediate relief to long-term empowerment.
Project Background
Little Bay, Jamaica, presents a unique set of challenges and opportunities for missions aimed at supporting the local community with food, skill development, and basic needs. The climate is tropical, with hot and humid conditions year-round, occasionally interrupted by hurricane seasons, posing occasional risks to infrastructure and livelihoods.
Little Bay faces economic challenges, with limited employment opportunities and infrastructure development. Many residents struggle with poverty, exacerbated by high unemployment rates and lack of access to education and skills training.
In assessing the needs of Little Bay, it becomes evident that there is a critical need for interventions that address food insecurity, provide access to basic necessities such as clean water and healthcare, and offer opportunities for skill development and economic empowerment. By directly targeting these areas of need, missions can positively impact the lives of residents in Little Bay, fostering a sense of hope and resilience within the community.

Mission Update for Little Bay 2022-2024
Greetings everyone, I would like to update you on the Little Bay Missions activities for the past couple years.
First I have to apologize for not providing any updates during this period.
Lots has happened that contributed to the absence of the update:
1. First, Covid happened and all the programs at the centre were placed on hold.
2. My wife broke her hip which limited my availability to properly manage the centre.
3. There was a change in my house and grounds helpers.
4. As a result of the above we lost the chicken/egg sales ministry which affected the soup kitchen ministry.
5. I was not able to provide leadership and mentorship to the young boys in the community.
6. The bicycle ministry slowed down but never stopped, I continued to ship bikes down each year and was able to give away 9 bikes earlier this year.
Other ministries which have not stopped are clothing, Christmas food bags/hampers, Easter treats for the community and Mother’s Day celebrations.
November 2023
A team of five people from the Chinese Alliance church came down and did mission work at the centre, which went very well. They participated in devotions at the local school across the road, spent a day in the classroom with the children painting at the mission centre, community cleanup followed by a community meal.
January 2024
We provided 50 bags of groceries to 4 different communities. Normally this would be done at Christmas time but a family/organization from the States provided the food hamper at Christmas, thus we delayed the food bags/hamper.
This Year
This year I will be packing 2 crates with clothing items including shoes, both kids and adults clothes as well as bicycles.
While the shipping cost for each 4x4’ crate is getting quite expensive at $1,400, the items we are able to ship in the crates would never be able to be purchased on the Island for $1,400, that’s if they were available down there.
Going forward we will be looking at different means of shipping, which will see us downsizing to barrels and the shipping of only clothing items. It requires more space to ship the bicycles which is the reason we have used shipping crates.
Future plans
● November shipping 2 crates, cleared from the shipper by Christmas.
● Soup kitchen to be started by November 25/24.
● December Christmas food bags/hampers distribution.
● Clothing, bicycles and other clothing items to be distributed between February and March 2025.
● Easter treats April 20/25
● Mother’s Day celebration May 12/25
● End of May community cleanup and meal.
