New Hope Emergency Relief

Over the past few years, Ethiopia has been suffering due to Covid, ethnic violence, and political instability. All of these have led to incredibly high inflation, causing great hardship, especially for the very poor. In the past, New Hope & Livelihood Project has provided dry goods food relief, but we realized we needed a more sustainable way to help and so we decided to start a garden project.

New Hope & Livelihood Project’s main focus is on income generation so that people become independent. Nevertheless, we also realize that some, like the very old, the very young, and the sick, cannot work. So we started a garden project to help provide vegetables and fruits for some of these very vulnerable people. We have made a large garden that grows corn, cabbage, and papaya in a rural area where people are suffering due to lack of food. We believe that this is a more sustainable source of emergency food relief for people in need in the community we serve in.

As funds allow, we would love to keep the garden growing and plant others in other areas of great need.
